Ontario Job Grant

Funding for employee training in Ontario

Save up to 83% on employee training costs with the Ontario Job Grant

The Ontario Job Grant (OJG) helps Ontario employers train their people, with funding that can cover up to 83% of eligible training costs for organizations with fewer than 100 employees. Larger employers may receive support for up to 50% of eligible costs, and additional funding is available when smaller employers train new hires who were previously unemployed.

That changes the math on development: with funding support, you can build the capabilities your organization needs at a reduced cost.

You choose who gets trained and what they learn, so the funding goes straight to what matters to your organization: managers who lead better, teams that work well together, and people ready for what’s next.

PMC Training has delivered grant-funded training for Ontario employers before, so we know the process from the training side. We meet the eligible-provider criteria and can help you find the right training to meet your objectives.

What the grant can cover

The grant covers eligible training costs up to $10,000 per trainee, with higher support available in one specific hiring situation.

The amount depends on your organization size and training situation:

PMC Training course options

You may already know your team needs training. The harder part is choosing the course that will actually help them do the work better.

Maybe new managers need to lead with more confidence. Maybe a team needs to communicate more clearly, manage projects more consistently, serve clients better, or use Microsoft 365 tools more effectively. Maybe people are taking on new responsibilities and need stronger habits, judgment, and follow-through.

PMC Training can help you identify course options that build the right capability for your team and provide the training details for your Ontario Job Grant application.

You can choose from scheduled open-enrolment courses for individual employees or small groups, or private team training when several people need to build the same capability together.

For team training, we can also help shape a practical training plan by combining relevant courses or modules, adjusting the emphasis, and using examples that better reflect your workplace context. The goal is to make the training useful for the work people need to do next.

How the process works

  1. Clarify the capability you want to build
Tell us what your employees need to do more confidently, consistently, or effectively. We can help identify training options that may fit.
  2. Request training details
Once you have a course or training plan in mind, we can provide the course description, learning objectives, dates, delivery format, duration, pricing, and quote details your application may require.
  3. Apply through Ontario’s official process
The employer completes and submits the Ontario Job Grant application directly using the province’s process.
  4. Wait for approval before training begins
Employers should receive approval before training starts. Training that begins before approval may not be eligible for funding.
  5. Confirm your course or team training
Once approved, PMC can finalize registration, scheduling, and delivery details.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Canada-Ontario Job Grant still available?

The Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) was replaced by the Ontario Job Grant (OJG), with new application guidelines effective May 2026.

What types of organizations can apply?

The Ontario Job Grant is for private and non-profit employers in Ontario. The organization must employ the people being trained, have a physical location in Ontario, and have been actively operating in Ontario for at least one year before applying.
Government, broader public sector organizations, and organizations already receiving government funding for the same or substantially similar training for the same trainees are not eligible.

Does PMC Training complete the application?

No. The employer applies directly through Ontario’s official process. The application includes information about the employer, participants, training plan, and business need.
We can support the training side by helping identify relevant course options and providing course details, pricing, and quote information.

Do employers need to apply before training starts?

Yes. Employers should apply and get approval before training begins. The guidelines state that costs incurred before the effective date of the transfer payment agreement are not eligible for reimbursement.

Is PMC Training an eligible provider?

Yes. Ontario does not pre-approve training providers in advance. Instead, employers are responsible for choosing a provider that meets the program requirements. We meet the provider conditions and have delivered grant-funded training for Ontario employers before.

How does payment work?

Your organization pays PMC Training directly and keeps payment records. The Ontario Job Grant funding is paid directly to the approved employer according to the grant agreement and handled through Ontario’s official process.

Where can I find the official program rules?

You’ll find the full details here.
We do our best to keep this page current, but Ontario’s official program information is the source of truth for eligibility, funding amounts, application requirements, and deadlines.
