Create Better Communication and Greater Understanding with Those Around You

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, identify and manage our emotions and the emotions of others. This self awareness and control can help you gain a better understanding of self that can be used to increase personal effectiveness. However, emotional intelligence also includes the understanding of others and the ability to build relationships that can benefit you both in your professional and personal life.

Training is often focused on hard skills that are required to do the job; however, it is emotional intelligence and other soft skills that can increase personal effectiveness, build a team, increase group cohesion and help you to develop in your career. The skills learned in this session can help you find your own purpose, communicate more effectively and connect with others on a deeper level.

Using Daniel Goleman’s model of Emotional Intelligence this session will cover the topics below as they relate to your work and personal life.

This is a half-day virtual live workshop.

Introduction to Emotional Intelligence


  • Methods of reflection and mindfulness that can help you stay present and understand your feelings and actions more fully.

Self regulation

  • How do you manage your emotions? How do you recognize what you are feeling? We will discuss coping mechanisms for times when they are needed.


  • What motivates you? Understanding your motivations and the motivations of others can help you with planning and structuring your activities and conversations.


  • How do you connect to others on a deeper level? We will discuss the differences between pity, sympathy, empathy and compassion. How do we use this to form meaningful relationships?

Social Skills

  • Using a speed reading and learning model, we will discuss how to connect with anyone (even those that may differ from you greatly). Using this model we will explore the motivations and preferences of others to help create smooth communication and greater understanding with those around you. We will explore why conflict might exist and how to mitigate these effects.

Who Should Attend This Course?
